“The Presentation in the Temple” (Brazilian)
When Mary and Joseph went to the temple with Jesus, they were doing what was ordinary Jewish custom. But two people they met there, Simeon and Anna, were not ordinary in any sense. They were special messengers of God.
“The child’s father and mother were amazed at what was said about him.” Luke 2:33
Anna spoke about Jesus and then she spoke directly to Mary saying, “… and you yourself a sword will pierce." (v. 35)
Besides her joy, Mary, the bearer of the Word would also experience a wounded heart.
